Evan wins First Place in the UURAF Poster Competition!

Being able to take part in UURAF was a great opportunity to learn how to present research in a professional environment. Probably the most useful part for me was the preparation of the poster. Having never made a scientific poster before, Jennifer was very helpful in giving me advice. By the time I presented my poster at UURAF, I knew exactly what points I wanted to highlight. Working hard on developing a proper poster definitely gave me confidence when speaking with others about my work. UURAF gave me some great experience on presenting, and also gave me an opportunity to learn about other student’s research. -ER

Editor’s Comment: Evan Ryan was awarded first place in the Physical Sciences-Section 3 session for his poster on “Characterization of Potential Sources of Optical Backgrounds for the Development of a Single Atom Microscope.” He won $100 and is now eligible to compete for the Grand Prize-$500).
