Spinlab is Open for Business

Our group applies a variety of atomic, molecular, & optical physics techniques to answer fundamental questions in nuclear and particle physics. Our passion is creating, manipulating, and detecting spin-polarized nuclei. Our long terms goals are to:

  • Observe time-reversal symmetry violation in nuclei, which may explain the origin of matter in the Universe
  • Study the evolution of the elements by measuring rare nuclear reactions using optical single atom detection
  • Construct long term memory & storage for quantum information processing using nuclear spin qubits
  • Study lung disease using hyperpolarized noble gas magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

We are a part of the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory/Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (NSCL/FRIB) and the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Michigan State University.

We are always looking to hire curious, self-motivated, & very hard-working students of all levels as well as postdocs.

If you are interested in my group’s activities, then please send me a brief email with a CV or resume and a short description of your research interests.
