Roy Ready has been selected to receive the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) award for the proposed research project, “Towards a More Sensitive Measurement of the Electric Dipole Moment of Radium-225”, to be conducted at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) with our collaborator Matt Dietrich.

Roy was selected is in recognition of his outstanding academic accomplishments and the merit of his research proposal, and reflects his potential to advance the Ph.D. studies and make important contributions to the mission of the DOE Office of Science.

Next February, Roy will move to ANL and will implement the HV electrodes into the Ra EDM setup as well as measure key atomic properties of Ra that are be needed for designing a more efficient laser slowing scheme. Congratulations Roy! -JTS
